I’ve blogged before about the campaign to save Harrow School of Ceramics.
Last month my colleague Sarah Teather MP tabled a question on the School’s future. We’ve had the following reply from junior minister David Lammy MP:
“Ministers and officials have had no discussions on this issue. The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) allocates grant to institutions independently of Government according to its statutory duties. It is for individual institutions to make decisions on the funding of particular courses and Ministers have no powers to intervene in those decisions. In this case I understand the future of the BA Ceramics course is currently under review, but no final decision has been taken.”
That last line implies there is still hope, but I don’t know if that’s accurate. Watch this space!
