There was a spate of alarm about combusting laptops a few years ago, caused by overheating batteries.
Now Ian Stafford has reported a colleague’s laptop catching fire in the sunshine.
Islington Council has introduced free wifi around Upper Street, prompting people to surf in the sun, outside cafes or on Islington Green. Perhaps it’s just as well that the fire station is on Upper Street too….
Meanwhile I have a new wifi dongle for my laptop so I can use it on my occasional trips to my firm’s head office. In winter, the Met Line trains can be like fridges on wheels as the doors open at every overground station, while the Chiltern Line is better named the Chilly Line so powerful is its aircon. So a hot laptop could be quite welcome – minus the flames of course.
