Essex Road roadworks

News from the Council of more roadworks on Essex Road.

“We are proposing to resurface Essex Road between Popham Street and Canonbury Road.

The works will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic. During the work, traffic on Essex Road will be reduced to one lane with temporary signals to allow vehicles to travel in both directions.

On the nights of the resurfacing there will be no parking allowed on this section of Essex Road from 6.30pm. The work will start at 8pm and will be finished at about 2am. The noisy work will be carried out in the early part of the evening. The surfacing will occur on the following nights.

Mon April 6 – Eastbound section between Cross Street and Greenman St. No road closures required.

Tue April 7 – Westbound section between Popham Street and Greenman Street. Elder Walk will be closed to traffic at Essex Road (use Popham Street), Dibden Street and Pickering Street will be closed to traffic with no possible alternative route.

Weds April 8 – Eastbound section between Greenman Street and Canonbury Road. River Place and Asteys Row will be closed to traffic with no possible alternative route.

Mon April 20 – Westbound section between Greenman Street and Canonbury Road. Greenman Street will be closed at Essex Road, traffic to use Popham Road and New North Road.

If you have any comments or require further information please contact Costas Jacovou on costas.jacovou@islington.gov.uk or 020 7527 2049”.

We certainly need the road resurfacing. And it sounds as if the work is planned to cause minimum disruption. As long as those nighttime works don’t overrun and the lane closures are over before the morning rush hour.
